Beyonce's nickname is JuJu... Who's Haitian in the Hip Hop Industry?

I was brosing the web and I bumped onto a post on HaitiXchange.com  the post was on whether or not Usher is Haitian.

Here is an interesing thread from that post:

"Forget Usher if he doesn't want people to know that's his problem,

I heard of him and Jermaine Dupri being Haitian and also Lil'Fizz from B2k whos real name is Druex Pierre Fredericks and says creole food is his favorite food but never said he was Haitian.

I know u all heard of G-unit well i know for sure that two of the members are Haitian American (Christopher Lloyd AKA Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo AKA Marvin Bernard) I don't know about 50 cent but he does reffer to Haiti and Haitians alot in his rhymes and did speak a little creole in one of his songs.

Has anybody else hear of the Beyonce and Kelly from Destiny's Child being Haitian?

I do know that Beyonce got her name from her mom's maiden name (Christina Beyonce) and that Kelly is her cousin and her last name is also a Haitian last name(Rowland).

By the way Beyonce's full name is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles and her fan sites say that her nickname is Juju.

Haitians are taking over the entertainment world but are not saying that they are Haitian!"

Re: Celebrities who are Haitian

Beyonce is not Haitian. Her mother's side of the family hails from Louisiana. They are creole, but not Haitian. There is a difference.

50 cent is not Haitian, but Lloyd Banks and Yayo are. Usher is Haitian, but apparently does not say so because he has no relationship with his father or that side of the family.

be yourself and be pround of who u are

you know what.

I believe there is a lot of haitien who like to pretend to be or want to be somebody else. because of what others races might think of them .

In other word is like because of the way some haitian act, speak i mean the accent, the way we dress and the way we live or life.

but you know what thats make us be who we are haitian, creole, kompa, danm the food, the history, and if you have the chance to go to our country and the prrivilege to enjoy all that i mean the art is beautiful you will never ask for nothing more.

And for those who think they are to handsom, cute, sexy beautifull to be haitain i feel bad for you because u are nothing infront of the new haitian generation coming becuse they going to be cuter, sexier more handsome and beautill than you and they going to enjoy of being who they are haitian and pround.

epi kisa ou pral di huuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh.

HATIAN MENTALITY

why does everything french have to be hatian, i'm from the bahamas where we have many hatians as well and i know for a fact that they tend to buy documents when coming in to the country illegally and they inherit surnames that are in no way shape or foem of hatian descent. My descendants are from MARTINIQUE AND FRANCE for instance DELEVEAUX. Its not a hatian last name and i dare someone to tell me which part of haiti i came from, lol. If u dont know your family history anyone can tell u any old junk and i happen to know mine very well. By the way, while not all hatians are alike, the bad outweighs the good in my country because, when u come into a country illegally to seek a better way of life, i believe u should adjust to the environment and hatians dont for the most part. They come and they live in the same conditions as they did in haiti and thats not good. I DONT DISCRIMINATE AND I DONT HATE THEM, I JUST DONT LIKE THEIR ATTITUDE TOWARD LIFE AND MAKING THE BEST OUT OF IT. DONT COME AND MAKE A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY INTO A SLUM IF U KNOW THE OPPORTUNITY FOR U TO MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER IS IN YOUR FACE. U ARE IN A BETTER PLACE, SO TAKE HOLD OF IT AND UPLIFT YOURSELVES, TRY TO GEL WITH THE BAHAMIANS AND NOT ALLOW YOURSELVES TO BE PICKED OUT OF THE CROWD SO EASILY. WE WELCOME U, BUT U HAVE TO SHOW INTEREST IN MAKING YOUR LIFE BETTER. ALSO, DONT COME IN SOMEONE'S COUNTRY TO TAKE OVER, WHEN IN ROME DO AS ROMANS DO AND WE WILL EMBRACE U EVEN MORE, LEAVE THE NEGATIVITY BACK IN HAITI AND LEAVE WITH A NEW AND MORE POSITIVE ATTITUDE .

Who cares about the Haitian Americans

Listen ya, I'm Haitian n I'm very proud, Haiti is a great country but a lot of you Haitian Americans just doesn't care about it, ya just afraid to say ya Haitian, but it's cool, I don't blame ya because of the way some of you Haitian act and dress. Me, I like to be clean always and always looking nice and never afraid to say that I'm Haitian, I feel good when i say it... some people just don't know, being Haitian is great and I'm not just saying that because I'm Haitian. I'm saying that because we are, we are great people, that's the reason why other countries always trying to stop some of our great presidents from doing good to the country, like president Aristid....
anyway people just stop it, I know one day all of them will come out and say they Haitian... Wyclef is a great guy and God will always bless him and he will always have money to do whatever for Lil' Haiti ... who cares about if they Haitian or not.. if they wanted people to know where they came from and proud of where they came from they would come out and say it.... I don't give a fuck about them if they Haitian.. it would be so stupid to come out now and say they are Haitian.... peace out ya.. and drop it... just be proud of yourself and proud you are Haitian....( ya can't change the blood even if you try..) I'm out

let's show everyone how proud we really are!

Hello,
Just imagine if you had a chance to save the life of an innocent child. What would you do? Today you will get that chance. The decision you make after reading this letter will directly affect the life of a child. How would you feel knowing that you’ve taken a part in actually saving the life and future of a child? Through “OASIS for Children, Inc.” you truly can make that happen. OASIS is an acronym for Our Attempt at Saving Innocent Souls. We are an organization that provides care to the sickest and weakest orphaned and abandoned children amongst all the violence and despair in Haiti. That’s right, I said Haiti.
It is simply heartbreaking to know that the children at the orphanage may be in danger of loosing the only home they have ever known for the last three years. Donations have plummeted in the last several months, which have left us in a desperate financial situation. These children are waiting for someone to care enough to help them survive. I am not too proud to beg you for help to keep the doors of OASIS opened and to help me save more children. Some people say that Haiti has reached the point of no return; that Haiti is too far gone. They say the poverty is so overwhelming that there is not much one could do, but if you partner together with me along with others; we can impact the entire nation; even if it is one child at a time. We have not given up on Haiti. We still have hope. Please have hope with us. Children are the future of any nation. If there is hope for Haiti, it’s in the children.
Ignorance, poverty, and disease are destroying this generation of children, and it is happening fast. It is time for the Haitian community especially, along with the thousands of Haitian-Americans and Diasporas that is living so comfortably here in their own little world, to stop for one minute to hear the cries of these precious children. If we continue to make no effort to save them, we can’t expect others to. I ask you, how long are we going to just sit back and let the future of OUR country die in such alarmingly large numbers? It doesn’t have to be this way and we have the power to change it. Why not do it now.
These children don't deserve to suffer and die like this. We can’t continue to look the other way or wait for someone else to do it. We must stand up and unite to do it together. You may be saying to yourself; Why me? Why now? I say to you; Why not you? Why not now? These children at least deserve the effort.
There are a myriad of ways you can help; not just by sending a donation. Please understand that I am not necessarily asking for money, although that is what we are in most need of. I am also looking for resources, or connections that you may have that can help us get funding, food, products, etc. that we are in desperate need of. You can help by hosting a fundraiser, or help by spreading the word about this organization to friends, co-workers, church members, etc. Each and every person can do something; regardless how small. You just have to care enough to do it. We are a non-profit organization; therefore all donations are tax-deductible and directly benefit the children at Oasis. To ignore is so easy. Don’t take the easy way; it may cost a child’s life. Remember, we don’t have much time. Do it now. Please!

Blessings to you,
Luceanna Moore

Crole Antillean d'Hati

First of all U guys have no life worryin about peoples national heritage as if it mattered...second of all I think people need to stop assuming things and making asses out of themselves because none of u know these people nor have any of them ever told you such things as you guys are claiming...third of all Beyonc has never mentioned anything about being Hatienne and if you had any knowledge about the Creoles of Louisiana you could use common sense and listen to her song titled "Creole" and hear both in the beat and in what she is saying that she is talking about louisiana creoles other wise the song would have a Zouk or Compa sound to it, but it is clearly louisiana jazz...Although the term Crole just simply means someone from a french speaking territory in the western hemisphere, the louisiana definition of what is creole contrast with that of Hati, Guyane, Guadeloupe, Martinique etc. Louisianans stress the presence of french and native american blood as being creole while in the caribbean anyone from a Francophone island is Crole regardless of ethnicity is Crole

Anonymous - 12:19 PM - March 11, 2009

I would also like to add to the person who said beyonc is Creole and not Kreyol that their both the same word just spelled diffrently u can only make the difference by adding the type of creole the person is par example: Louisiana Creole or Caribbean Creole

Why y'all hatin?

See, many of yall cant accept Beyonce being Haitian simply because you cant picture such a successful beautiful singer as being one of our fellow Haitians. Get it right, homie. Haiti is not like what the news say its like. First of all, 98% of Haiti is Roman Catholic, not witch doctor. Also, Haitians eat rice and chicken usually as a traditional main dish, and NOT cat. People hate too damn much. As the sayin goes, "Haitians know Haitians", and ain't no one gonna question us once when we know someone is Haitian. Beyonce's mother is Haitian and her father is African-American, making her half Haitian. And Usher is part Haitian too, hell, his dad is from the same city as my dad. Beyonce is half HAITIAN!!! Don't forget that!

With the thought of my country in turmoils, my nationality should not be relevant!!

HAITI, The 1st country in the western hemisphere of african/creole decents, gained power and independence in 1804, is now of ruins, turmoil, sickness and death. We as HAITIANS should be reflecting on more than just being HAITIANS and imagining us facing the pains that they are now. If Beyonce, Usher, Maxwell or any other individual in the entertainment business feels the need to hide the fact of being a HAITIAN, then we as HAITIANS should not continue to praise or idolize people in denial.

My people are hungry, sick and very poor. So at this point, should my nationality be something to deny? I can care less about an A-list celebrity, but my people will be loved with open arms.
