Housing Prices Going up in Little Haiti

There was a report released on Thursday by Florida international university stating that about half of the families in some of Miami's poorest neighborhoods cannot afford more than $354 to $681 in monthly housing costs of rent or mortgage and utilities.

One of the neighborhoods considered in this report was little Haiti.

Marleine Bastien, executive director of Haitian Women of Miami, said redevelopment has displaced many poor residents.

"A lot of times we have to help them move in with other relatives, which creates a very tense situation at home," Bastien said. read more...
