Two UN Peacekeepers to Haiti are now illegal immigrants hiding in the U.S.

Haiti Headline News , 8/30/2005, 9:02 AM

Everyone has their own personal reasons for leaving their homeland to join the MINUSTAH and "Help" Haiti.  for two Filipino soldiers, that reason was a good one...

Their Tickect To The American Dream!

Here is a brand new recipe for coming to America illegally:
Prepared by two filipino " Chèf "

  1. Join the army in your country
  2. Pray that something goes wrong in Haiti (when things go wrong in Haiti, everyone wins except Haitians!)
  3. Offer to join the UN Mission "because you love Haiti so much and you are dying to help"
  4. Be a really good boy so you can get in the R&R Mission to Florida - 'R&R' stands for 'Rest and Recreation' Mission.  I bet you didn't know that.
  5. Once you get to florida, Mission accomplished, You are now in the land of opportunity

This recipe was cooked up by two Filipino UN peacekeepers, One is a Navy Lieutenant, the other is a Marines Sergent.

Trust me it works!

I wonder if regular Haitians qualitfy for this R&R Mission Florida.

Deadliest hurricanes to hit Haiti and the Caribbean

Haiti Headline News , 8/30/2005, 8:19 AM

I was reading througn an article titled Deadliest hurricanes to hit Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean and I extracted the list of hurricanes to hit Haiti in history:

1930: Dominican Republic, 8000 dead.

The hurricane name is not mentioned and neither was Haiti but being that we're neighbors, I wonder if Haiti was hit as well

1954: Hurricane Hazel; Haiti, South Carolina to Canada; 575 to 1175 dead.

1963: Hurricane Flora, Caribbean, 7200 dead in Haiti and Cuba.

2004: Hurricane Jeanne, Haiti and Florida, more than 2400 dead.

The deadliest hurricane of all time is known as "The Great Hurricane of 1780". This hurricane killed 20,000 to 22,000 in Barbados and the West Indies

Haitian Businessman Dumas Simeus Wants To Become The Nest President Of Haiti

Haiti Headline News , 8/17/2005, 1:35 PM

The Miami herald has just reported that Haitian American businessmen Dumarsais Simeus wants to be the next president of Haiti.

:) He already has money, being President of haiti will not make him richer!

Dumas Simeus is this founder and CEO Simeus Foods International which is  Today Texas' largest black-owned company and the largest black-owned food processing plant in the country, according to Black Enterprise magazine.

His empire is worth over 100 Million Dollars!

Dumarsais Siméus was born poor in Saint Marc, Haiti.

"Like many Haitian youngsters, Dumarsais Siméus stood on the docks of St. Marc, near his hometown, and dreamed about going where the boats were coming from.

His parents sold a plot of land to help him buy a plane ticket to attend college in the United States…"

But... became a US Citizen, Can he still become President of Haiti?

''The bottom line is he is a native son of Haiti, clearly born and raised in Haiti, went out in the world to make a success and he has kept constant connection with Haiti,'' said Rob Allyn, the Dallas-based GOP political strategist hired by Siméus.

But... Article 135 of the Haitian Constitution states a presidential candidate must ''be a native-born Haitian and never have renounced Haitian nationality,'' and have resided in the country for five consecutive years before the election.

Siméus said he has never renounced his Haitian citizenship [interesting] despite being a U.S. citizen. And he argues that constitutional requirements don't apply in any case, claiming Haiti has been operating outside of the constitution since Aristide's ouster in 2004.

His attorneys have been working the phones, trying to overcome the perceived legal obstacles.

My Two Cents: Haiti should be run like business, every year she needs to make a profit.  Haiti needs to be cleaned up so that the generation of Haitians born and/or raised outside the country can return home to build their dream and to create jobs in their homeland.

Mr. Simeus, If you can run Haiti like you run your business, Go for it.

One question... What are you going to do about all the hungry people out there who think the only way to be rich is to be president of Haiti?

I bet you that's where your opposition will come from.  Wap anpeche nèg yo mange, Man!

Haitian Justice Minister calls for fair trials

Haiti Headline News , 8/13/2005, 11:54 AM

Caribbean Net News Reports:

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (UPI): Haitian Justice Minister Henri Dorlean has called for the immediate release of hundreds of prisoners or fair trials for those being held without charges.

Dorlean, who assumed the role of Haiti's justice minister in June, said that continuing to hold suspects without any legal proceedings such as a trial is a blatant violation of their human rights, Haitian radio reported Wednesday.

Among those being held for extended periods is Haiti's former Prime Minister Yvon Neptune, who was arrested last year after former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide left the country.

Neptune has been accused of ordering the deaths of political opponents to Aristide, an allegation he denies.

Aristide left Haiti in February 2004 as armed rebels were taking over the country calling for his resignation.
